National Award winning music composer, lyricist and music director Alauddin Ali has laid to rest at the Mirpur Shaheed Intellectual Cemetery in the capital with the
last respects of his long time colleagues, family and well-wishers.
He was buried in the intellectual cemetery on August 10 at 4
o'clock.
Earlier, Namaz-e-Janaza of Alauddin Ali was held at 12 noon at
Nur-e-Bagh Mosque in ancestral Vita Khilgaon and at 2.30 pm at Bangladesh Film
Development Corporation (BFDC).
The composer, who had been suffering from
cancer for several years, died on Sunday at around 7.30 pm. After his death,
his body was kept in the Bardem cold storage.
From
there, his body was kept at FDC from 2pm to 3pm after Janaza in Khilgaon.
Alauddin
Ali was born on 24 December 1952 in Banshbari village of Tongibari upazila of
Munshiganj. His father was Ustad Jadab Ali and mother was Johra Khatun.
He
entered the film world in 1968 as a musician. He started his journey as a
violinist with Altaf Mahmood.
In
those days, Alauddin Ali worked as a collaborator with many famous composers
including Anwar Parvez. He became interested in directing music while playing
the violin in the music of the film.
He
made his debut as a music director in 1972 with the patriotic song 'O Amar
Bangla Ma'. Alauddin Ali was able to establish a music genre of his own in his
five-decade music career.
Alauddin Ali was the mastermind behind many timeless songs.
He won the National Award for Best Music Director in 1989 for
the film “Golapi Akhon Train-e", for the film "Sundari" in 1980 and for the film “Koshai”
and “Jogajog” in 1989. In 1975, Alauddin Ali won the National Film Award for
Best Lyricist.
